Beaver Camp 2019

Last year, we ran our first Beaver Sleepover in the scout hall – it was a great success and we received a lot of positive feedback from parents and Beavers!

However, this year, for the first time at the 28th, we’ll not only be giving our Beavers the experience of going somewhere new overnight, but we’ll also be providing the opportunity to sleep under canvas.

Information Evening Summary

Location
Our Beaver sleepover last year was a great success however we did have the challenge of trying to fit 40 Beavers (and some of their bedrooms!) in the hall on a cold January night so we couldn’t get outside either!

This year, at Auchengillan, we’ll be based at the Kyle Cabin (no.4 on the map below) and will have ample space for all of the Beavers, Leaders & equipment.

Accommodation
Whilst the cabin has enough space to accommodate everyone, we’ll be encouraging the Beavers to spend the night under canvas.
We’re currently in the process of sourcing the tents & are planning for roughly 4 Beavers per tent.

Program
The Beavers will arrive for 10am on the Saturday and after a tour of our site, we’ll be starting our Top Secret Hike, completing a number of activities throughout the day in order to save Bertie Beaver!
On Sunday morning, site will be packed up and Beavers will be picked up at 10am.
If the camp video didn’t give it away already, camp will have a spy theme and during the weeks leading up to camp, the Beavers will be focusing on skills including First Aid, Communication, Navigation, and of course, Espionage.

Kit List
A kit list is provided on the information sheet.
If you’re going out to buy new equipment, it’s always worth mentioning it’s for a scout camp as many outdoor shops offer a discount!

If you’re struggling to find the kit you need, please get in touch and we’ll help you out, we don’t want equipment to get in the way of camp!

Please:
– Involve your son/daughter when packing so they know where everything is
– Clearly label all items
– Use a rucksack or sports bag that they can fit on their back

Food
We’ll be providing Saturday dinner, supper and Sunday breakfast however we ask that Beavers bring a packed lunch for the Saturday.

Joining Instructions
The camp fee is £20 (subsidised by the Scout Group and Beaver Sections)

Please return the consent form and camp fee to your section leader by week beginning 22nd April.

Where should I stitch new badges on my son or daughter’s shirt?

Glad you asked!  Please don’t guess; you may be asked to move badges that are out of position.2015cu-as-ath
